Discounts

There are several ways to lower your homeowner’s premium through the use of discounts. Listed below are the most common:

Multi-policy discount. If you insure your automobiles with the same company you are using for your homeowners insurance, you can receive a discount in the range of around 10%.
Higher deductibles. A deductible is the amount you pay before the insurance company pays on a covered loss. Deductibles can be $250, $500, $1,000 or more per incident. As the deductible is increased, your premium will be lowered.
Alarms. Depending on the type of alarm, you could receive a larger discount on your premium. A central station alarm could lower the premium by as much as 20%. A local alarm might lower the premium by 10%. If you have smoke detectors, a fire extinguisher and dead bolt locks, your premium can be lowered by 5%.
